How to read Hawaii's seasons
Island and unit rules matter more than the calendar
Hawaii hunting is organized by island and public hunting unit, with different rules for game mammals like pigs, goats, sheep, and axis or blacktail deer, plus separate game-bird seasons. The right answer depends heavily on which island and unit you plan to hunt.
Most hunting is on designated public units with their own access and weapon rules, so confirm details with the official Hawaii DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife source.
We summarize official agency information and link to the source for verification. Regulations can change, and zone details matter. Always confirm final dates, bag limits, permits, and legal requirements with Hawaii DLNR before hunting.
