Key seasons by species

Northern versus Southern Zone changes the dates

New York splits deer hunting between its Northern and Southern Zones, each with its own regular firearm, archery, and muzzleloader dates, and Deer Management Permits govern antlerless harvest by Wildlife Management Unit.

Confirm your zone, WMU, and permit status with the official New York State DEC source before planning.

We summarize official agency information and link to the source for verification. Regulations can change, and zone details matter. Always confirm final dates, bag limits, permits, and legal requirements with New York DEC before hunting.
